Meet Captain Eric and SO FLO Charter Fishing

Captain Eric Rodriguez of SO FLO Charter Fishing brings extensive knowledge of the waters surrounding Islamorada, having spent years mastering the area’s patterns, tides, and prime fishing zones. His connection to the Florida Keys runs deep, allowing him to guide guests with confidence, patience, and a focus on both education and enjoyment. Whether you're a seasoned angler or trying fishing for the first time, Captain Eric creates a relaxed, informative atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable and engaged.

Specializing in light tackle and fly fishing, Captain Eric offers a hands-on experience targeting a variety of inshore and nearshore species. Rods, reels, lures, and tackle are provided, and guests have the option to use live bait as well—just ask if you’re interested in catching it yourself. From the first cast to the final reel-in, he ensures that guests not only enjoy the fishing but also gain a deeper understanding of the techniques and local marine life. Depending on the season, anglers may encounter species such as Redfish, Bonefish, Snook, Jack Crevalle, Tarpon, Spotted Seatrout, and more.

As a licensed charter, SO FLO Charters covers your fishing license for the day, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm, a few snacks, and a readiness to enjoy the water. Captain Eric’s approach emphasizes safety, skill-building, and creating memorable moments—whether it’s a child catching their first fish or an experienced angler landing a personal best. Families, solo travelers, and friend groups alike will find a welcoming experience with personalized attention on every outing.

Captain Eric’s skiff, built in 2016, is designed for performance, simplicity, and comfort on shallow backcountry waters. Powered by a reliable 70HP Yamaha engine, the vessel delivers smooth handling and efficient travel across flats, channels, and mangrove-lined edges. The skiff comfortably accommodates small groups and families, offering an easy layout for casting and movement. Safety is a priority—child-sized life vests are available upon request or guests are welcome to bring their own. It’s a practical and well-maintained vessel built to support a fun, successful day of fishing in Islamorada.
